Makyee MakA short auto-biography from the author: Imagination, curiosity, fascination, humor and love for learning are all a part of my make-up. Illustrating has been my long-time friend and therapy. I am self-taught; my first attempts came at the age of four, probably earlier if I could remember further back. There are lots of wonderful activities that draw me in but the act of drawing comes most naturally for me. Story books, manga, animation and the longing to perfect my illustration skills was the basis of my personal creative training ground. I am a conduit to spirit, that which wishes to express itself through me and my art. Imagery that exists between dreams, within worldly symbolisms and signs, pure expressions of love and contentment are what my illustrations are all about. I do not think of these imageries, picture them visually and then reproduce them onto paper - the act of thinking before drawing doesn't happen for me. I allow the feeling (often something peaceful) to set the tone and I follow this tone with my art tools. Once I see these lines and their qualities, I then accept them as my creative guides and anything can come out. Many have told me that my art works remind them of story-like narratives, tattoos or poster designs, and often these art works have insightful messages that, incidentally, connect the audience to themselves. The illustrations are all parts of me, originally intended for myself - a loving and joyous reflection of my inner reality. This reality includes my dreams - vibrant, colorful, multi-dimensional, playful, miscellaneous, imaginative, wise, symbolic, and sometimes dark. I always remember my dreams the very next day and I enjoy deciphering the puzzles. Read More Read Less
