He is currently employed with Karve Institute of Social Service as In-Charge Diretor, faculty Social work, HRM and CSR & also as the Hon. Director for the Center of CSR and Center for Mental health and disability. He is the founder member of the CSR committee and disability board, Savitribai Phule Pune University. He is dexterous in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating CSR and field action research projects and also has to his credit an accomplishment of 70 projects for the corporate houses pan Maharashtra and also in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. He is CSR advisor for more than 15 corporate houses. The 60 villages adopted by Dr. Thakur are from tribal area and he has worked for the livelihood of the tribal community.
