Lynne Newton

Lynne NewtonLynne Newton is an American actress, writer and film producer. Born in the "Show Me" state of Missouri, success came early. In High School, she was voted Most Popular, Most Unique, and Done the Most, as well as Class President. As Head of the Drama Cub, her production of a talent show musical, "Slave to the Rhythm," was a hit. Then it was on to Phoenix, Arizona for college where she was the first in her family to get a college degree. It was after college that she became unsure of where to focus all her creative energies, but one thing she knew for sure was that continuing to work in a Phoenix sneaker factory wasn't going to be her answer. So she took the plunge and drove to Hollywood - without a job, apartment, or a clue about what to do once she got there. Her first job was in the porn industry (the clerical side!), which she combined with acting classes, getting head shots, and auditions. . . 321 auditions and 50 acting credits later, she agreed to help out a fellow creative as a producer on his film, and to her surprise she liked it and was good at it. It opened up a new door. Today, Lynne is writing, producing, and acting in her own social message films which, to date, have earned her 17 awards, her favorite among them being the one called the "Woman of Heart" award. Being high yellow in Hollywood has created challenges, the typical one for actors being "too dark for white roles; too light for black roles." But as Lynne quickly learned, it has its upside, too: "If I want, I can switch cultures and play characters from many parts of the world." According to Newton's Law of Success, "success" in life is by your own definition, and "I have had great success. I'm a prime example of living your dream. I'm still living it." The Work Lynne's work captures issues relating to the power we as individuals have to influence humankind. Social messages are embedded throughout her projects highlighting the importance and richness of individuality, womanhood, equality, culture, heritage, relationships, and other topics that honor high character values. She says, "The biggest accomplishment earlier in my career was building up confidence, learning to be comfortable in my own skin, positioning myself for opportunities and acting on those opportunities. Starting my own production company, learning technical and creative skills through acting classes and auditioning for over 300 projects were also huge accomplishments. Read More Read Less
