Lydia VeryLydia Very was a Massachusetts poet and illustrator in the nineteenth century. Lydia was born in Salem, Massachusetts in 1823 to Captain Jones Very and his first cousin, also named Lydia Very, who never married. Her father, Captain Very, saw little o his family, spending most of his days at sea. Lydia's mother hated her life and her misfortune and put all of her love into her children.
