Lukas Kaiolohia BobBorn in Honolulu, Hawaii, Lukas has grown up on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi with his older sister and parents. He attended Punana Leo O Hilo, a Hawaiian medium preschool; and Nawahiokalaniopuʻu, a Hawaiian language elementary and high school. During hi time there he became fluent in Hawaiian. He participated in Judo thru 8th grade. He started playing soccer at age 5 and continues enjoying it. He also loves surfing and surfs with his father at least once a week. From an early age he developed an interest in science and space. When he was 10 he attended Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. On the flight home with his grandmother, he talked about how much fun he had and what activities were the most interesting. After talking about how much fun it would be to go into space, he suggested that maybe the two of them could write a book about kids going into space, and in particular, Mars. During the next 5 years, Astronaut Kids was written with Lukas providing the scientific detail and story line. Now 14, Lukas is still interested in science as he navigates high school.
