Luis PeazeAuthor of doens major novels of the contemporary Brazilian library Moacir C. Lopes, became wellknown overseas by his master piece The Oister and the Wind translated into an awarded motion picture. Placed among the Brazilian classics as a creative genus, multi-faceted man and literature. His story begins in 1959 when a bombshell landed on the Brazilian literary scene in the form of Maria de Cada Porto, a novel about Brazil's Marinha da Guerra, written by a sailor with minimal education and literary background. The human interest value of Lopes' life excited critics and reviewers as much as the novel itself. In the opinion of many critics the fourth novel by Lopes, A Ostra e o Vento (1964), is his masterpiece to date. Technically innovative, Lopes elevates time sequence to the position of a major theme alongside the confrontation of objective and subjective realities. The simplicity of the story, the setting, and the few personages complements the masterful characterizations. Luís Peazê met him in the year 2000, they became friends despite the difference of age and era per say and went on shoulder to shoulder lecturing in literary events in Brazil.
