Lucy L Payne
Dr. Lucy Payne is co-author of Academic Intervention Success: A Whole-Child Approach to K-5 Achievement and a professional educator with almost thirty years of experience. She has a bachelor's degree in early childhood and elementaryeducation, a master's degree in reading education, and a doctorate in early childhood and elementary education with a focus in elementary math education and curriculum. She is a member of the Minnesota Hunt Team working to improve reading education outcomes in the state of Minnesota. She has twice been appointed by the governor to the teacher licensure and standards board. Dr. Payne is an elected school board member, serves on a cooperative school board, and on various community arts boards. She is a peer reviewer for Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). In her current position at the University of St. Thomas, Dr. Payne is assigned to the department of Teacher Education teaching courses in elementary mathematics and science education, classroom environments, DEI, curriculum, technology integration, and assessment. She is currently creating a new program focused on mental health for educators.
