Lucella Campbell

Lucella CampbellLucella Campbell is a native of St Lucia, in the Caribbean who also lived in Jamaica for many years. She is the mother of three. She was a radio broadcaster in her earlier years. Lucella migrated to the US in 1988 to take up a position with an interntional organization in the development field. Of all the rich experiences that have helped shape her life, the ones that she cherishes the most are her post-earthquake rebuilding work in Haiti, which provided deep insights into the light and dark of human nature, and also her founding of a Caribbean wide youth leadership organization - the Youth Advocacy Movement (YAM) which has been in existence since 1993. Her pride in the organization and all those who have kept it alive is best captured in the gratitude of a young man in Belize who tearfully indicated that "If it were not for the YAM, I would have been in jail like so many of my friends but here I am helping other young people because of YAM."
