Lloyd O ChristensenIn the 91 years of my life, I have in my mind the memory of knowing about Jesus since I was only two and a half years old. This was the result of my parents taking me to Sunday school. We lived in a modest home in Lignite, North Dakota, and there wasa basement below the kitchen, about eight feet square and seven foot deep. There was a trapdoor in the kitchen floor and a ladder going down at a slope, so you could go up and down holding on with one hand and still carry something. It was called a root cellar, and it took the place of a refrigerator as this was the only way we had to keep things cooler. For some reason, my parents decided to enlarge it, and they hired our minister's son to do the job. He was in the basement with a pick, a shovel, and a bucket. He would pick at the sides, knocking down some dirt, putting it in the bucket, and handing it up to Dad, and he would scatter it in the garden.
