Lisa PapeWhen I was young, I struggled at school. It took me longer to grasp the concepts of math and english than some of the other students. I found reading was incredibly helpful in developing my english skills and for opening up the world to different ides. I began to write short poems and take notes as they came to mind of stories that I would one day write. In my mid 20's I left the finance world for a while and became a qualified swimming teacher and a Nanny. During this time, I had the wonderful job of reading many stories, some favorites Dear Zoo and Possum Magic over and over again. When I had my own children, I would read to them at night as we all joined in on exciting adventures through The Chronicles of Narnia and other such incredible books. I supported my children at school with being a class assistant and held a role with the Parents and Friends Association helping to raise funds for books and equipment as sadly sometimes funding falls short. In 2005, when my children were still quite young, I wrote four children's books, scribbled on paper with poorly done illustrations, but they loved them anyway. After my experience Nannying, with my own children and helping at school I found that some children would at times find tasks quite challenging, they were not always given the support needed and really just needed a little time and encouragement. Children learn differently and at different stages. I'm hoping my Positive Playground series will assist children to become more confident and enable them to see things in a more positive way. I live in beautiful Melbourne Australia where I continue to write children's books, taking notes regularly as magical ideas come to mind whilst also working my day job as a Bookkeeper/Finance Officer, holding a Certificate IV in Financial Services and a Certificate IV in Training, Education and Assessment and hold a current Working with Children Check card.
