Linna PlaceDr. Linna Place is an American social and cultural historian. In her more than forty years at teaching at University of Missouri-Kansas City, she introduced courses on using material culture to understand and interpret the past that included a popula living history course taught at several of the important historic sites in the greater Kansas City area. She earned her Master's Degree in American folklife and material culture from the Cooperstown Graduate programs, and her doctorate in American Studies from the University of Kansas. Her research on religion in the 19th and early 20th century, women's history, and American folk art focuses on the intersection of social institutions with the social, cultural and economic events and issues of the tiem. She has lectured and consulted with numerous museums and cultural agencies throughout the region.
