Linn GamblinLinn Gamblin was born September 28, 1939, in Greensboro, Alabama.He was an avid reader and a champion checker player by the age of nine. Checker players from all around the south came to his father's curb market to challenge the little kid. This preccious child used The Bristol Cross opening move without knowing it had a name.Linn's parents had wanderlust, so as the family moved about the country, between grades 1 through 12 he attended 22 different schools. While it might be expected that his grades would suffer under such circumstance, just the opposite occurred; he was president and most likely to succeed in the four grades where he was a graduating senior.A family tragedy before his junior year in high school sent him spiraling down a black hole of immaturity leading to a life of debauchery and excess. He rejected baseball and academic scholarship offers from multiple universities in favor of a co-op program at the University of Alabama. Despite not being recruited in high school, playing baseball at Alabama was a childhood dream he would not give up. It took ten years to work the fast living and the depression out of his system. Marriage to a good woman provided the necessary discipline that allowed him to finish college. After receiving a degree in engineering from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, his family grew with the arrival of a remarkable child. He then resumed working around the country and the globe. As in all endeavors he undertook, he became an outstanding engineer working as a construction manager or engineer for companies like Reynolds Metals International and Raytheon Engineering and Construction. His work took him to many cities in the United States and to Venezuela, Guyana, the Bahamas, Nigeria, Chile, Germany, and Bahrain.
