Linda CockburnLinda has done a lot of things, she's been a librarian, a photographer, sold records in a tiny town in New Zealand and Catholic icons in a tiny shop in Sydney. A challenge for an atheist. She's run a health food shop, been a youth worker, a governessin outback Australia, travelled around rural Queensland teaching people how to use the internet. She's challenged her family to go six months without spending a dollar and spent a lot of it on top of a bike, going the cheese squeeze with a backyard goat and growing their food. A book about their adventures was published in 2006 by Hardie Grant and resulted in television appearances, radio, newspaper and magazine appearances, including Time Magazine. She's written articles for major magazines since sixteen, and for the ABC Organic Gardener Magazine since 2004. After managing a community centre prior she reverted to her hermit best and started market gardening, growing and selling rare heirloom seeds through Seed Freaks. The thing she does best is crawl inside fictional characters, get to know them, make them real to readers. She writes non-fiction that zings and books that matter. Books with bite. Books that might - just might - contribute to our global efforts to deal with the many quandaries we face. Read More Read Less
