She was the author of The Modern Stranger: On Language and Membership/i> (Mouton de Gruyter, 1987), When a Hostel Becomes a Home: Experiences of Women (Garamond, 1988), and We Are Never Alone: Healing Lessons from the Camino (Ursus, 2009). She was the editor of A Sociology of Pilgrimage: Embodiment, Identity, Transformation (Ursus, 2014) and co-editor (with Ian S.
