An accomplished pianist - he paid for his education by playing in clubs. He became friends with he Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. Professionally he specialized in putting together multi-million dollar projects including the earliest examples of mutual funds.
