Lawrence MatsudaLawrence Matsuda was born in the Minidoka, Idaho War Relocation Center (concentration camp) during World War II. The circumstances surrounding his birth support the fact that there are least two Americas (one with less justice). As a writer his on-gong challenge has been to advocate for ONE America with liberty and justice for all. Matsuda has written two books of poetry, a third in collaboration with Tess Gallagher, and a graphic novel about the Japanese American 442 WWII Regimental Combat Team. Chapter one and two of the graphic novel were animated by the Seattle Channel and both won regional Emmys, one in 2015 and the other in 2016. Read More Read Less
