O'Sullivan, a female New Zealand ex-pat, working as a private investigator in Honolulu, Hawaii, two recent police procedural novels featuring the fictional character LAPD homicide detective Howard Drew, and two novels based on the fictional Honolulu private eye, Rick Bishop.The son of a police officer, Darter joined the U. S. Navy at age 17. After receiving a bachelor of science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, Darter was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army Reserves assigned to the infantry branch. After leaving military service as a captain, Darter became a police officer, working at agencies in Oklahoma and Texas before retiring with after more than twenty years of law enforcement service.
