He also won first place in the Writers of the Future contest. Environmental themes and musings abut human beings' economic, cultural and spiritual relationships with nature are often woven into his fiction. At different points in his life, Lance has lived in Saskatchewan, Colombia, Ghana, Kenya and few other places that would have him.
