Kunal NepaliKunal Nepali is an Assistant Professor in the School of Pharmacy, Taipei Medical University, Taiwan. Kunal joined the School of Pharmacy, Taipei Medical University as an Assistant Professor on 17-01-2019 and is currently handling independent researchprojects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) as well as Taipei Medical University. He has expertise spanning medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis with ten years of experience in a broad range of drug development projects. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the year 2012 from ISF College of Pharmacy, Moga, Punjab, India. During his doctoral studies, he worked under the supervision of Dr. K.L Dhar, a pioneer organic and medicinal chemist of India, and systematically explored various areas of rational drug design and natural product chemistry. He then joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, at Guru Nanak Dev University as an Assistant Professor and served in that capacity until mid-2014. Along with the teaching assignments, he was actively involved in research projects and explored various areas of Catalytic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry. With an overwhelming stint as a teacher and a researcher, he was determined to expand the horizon of his expertise by gaining international exposure. To accomplish this, he moved to Taipei Medical University, Taiwan in October 2014 as a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratories of Professor Jing Ping Liou. His research work at the post-doctoral level involved the design of new chemical entities with desired biological activities and the development/optimization of synthetic procedures for the preparation of compounds along with structure-activity relationship studies. It was his exemplary research work at the post-doctoral level that earned him a highly competitive faculty position at the School of Pharmacy, Taipei Medical University. Overall, his research endeavors employ a rational structure-based drug design approach that lies at the interface of chemistry and biology to treat cellular processes dealing with chronic molecular stress. He made a significant contribution to the field of Medicinal Chemistry throughout his post-doctoral tenure and earned an Outstanding Post-Doctoral Researcher award, from Taipei Medical University five consecutive times 2014-2018. He is the author of a good number of research/review articles and is an ad-hoc reviewer of various reputed journals in the field of biomedical sciences. He has also received various recognitions and awards as a reviewer for Medicinal Research Reviews, European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letter, and others Read More Read Less
