Kent GrusendorfKent Grusendorf was elected to the Texas State Board of Education in 1982. Four years later he was elected to the Texas Legislature where he served for 20 years. In both political races he defeated an incumbent by running primarily on the issue of edcation reform. Once elected to the Texas House of Representatives, Speaker Gib Lewis appointed him to the House Public Education Committee, to the Legislative Education Board, and with consent of Governor Bill Clements, to the Governor's Select Committee tasked to deal with the state's very first court finding that the school finance system was unconstitutional -Edgewood I. He has been involved in each round of school finance litigation thereafter. Grusendorf served on numerous other select committees over the years and served as chairman of the 29 member House Select Committee on School Finance, which was tasked to deal with the West Orange school finance decision in 2003. He also served on the Southern Regional Education Board's Executive Committee, and served as chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Conference (ALEC) Education Task Force.
