Kenneth J BishopGreetings! Ken Bishop is my given name. I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on March 25, 1963. My siblings include two brothers and a younger sister. Growing up in my neighborhood, we didn't get many Christmas gifts. As a result, I ascribe this t the development of a creative mind. It was absolutely free. I think what drew me to horror was my fear. I'm scared of my own shadow. Strangely, I felt drawn to my fears like a candle fly is drawn to a flame. There was something about coming right up to the line of my terror and not breaching it that appealed to me. I decided to make up stories about the things that feared me the most (and there were plenty of them) and write them down on scrap paper. With a little embellishment, it began to take shape as a story. Even when I wrote about my worries, I was terrified. (Laughs). Friends would read that one scrap piece of paper closely, then flip it over and ask, "Where's the rest?" I was privy to the greats. Regardless of the fact that Stephen King was my main conduit of inspiration. As a child, I was only interested in mysteries, suspense, and horror. Ray Bradbury, Alfred Hitchcock, Rod Serling, and even the great Vincent Price, to mention a few early macabre pioneers, all launched me forward to the Koontz, Anne Rice, and King eras. Without an ounce of conceit, I believe I may have discovered my calling. Read More Read Less
