Kenneth J AndrienKenneth J. Andrien received his B.A. from Trinity College (1973) and his M.A. (1975) and Ph.D. (1977) from Duke University. He is author of Crisis and Decline: The Viceroyalty of Perus in the Seventeenth Century (1985, UNM Press), and The Kngdom of Quito, 1690-1830: The State and Regional Development (1995, Cambridge University Press). He is the coeditor (with Rolena Adorno) of Transatlantic Encounters: Europeans and Andeans in the Sixteenth Century (1991, University of California Press) and (with Lyman Johnson) of The Political Economy of Spanish America in the Age of Revolution, 1750-1850 (1994, UNM Press). He has also published numerous articles in journals such as: Hispanic American Historical Review, Journal of Latin American Studies, The Americas, Colonial Latin American Review, and Past and Present.
