She includes many examples of the medicinal effects of humor and laughter from personal experiences, and the positive changes laughter can make on our minds and bodies. She is a board member of the Texas Clown Association, was the 2016 chairman for the Texas Clown Convention, and is a member of the World Clown Association. Kathy was one of the first in the nation to earn a certified humor professional (CHP) designation in 2013, after attending the three-year Humor Academy through the Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor.
