Kathleen ChenKathleen Chen was born in the City of Tainan, Taiwan, and grew up in Taipei with her family. Her photography training was under the tutelage of Lang Jingshan (郎靜山), a pioneering photographer; indisputably the most prominent figur in the history of Chinese art photography. Before emigrating to America, Mrs. Chen worked in the finance and investment industries in Taiwan. Upon arriving in America, she served as a volunteer at Hsi Lai Temple in Hacienda Heights as a member of the Public Education Department beginning in 1988. She also served multiple philanthropy and leadership positions in Buddha's Light International Association, as a founding member, with duties in the finance department under the guidance of Venerable Abbot Hsing Yun. She was designated as an official photographer with a United States Secret Service clearance during Vice President Al Gore's visit to Hsi Lai Temple in 1996, as well as many other dignitaries from the Republic of China and the United States government.
