Karlanna LewisKarlanna Lewis - is currently pursuing her J.D.-M.B.A. (2015) at Yale University. She completed her B.A. Honours in Russian and Creative Writing at Florida State University in Spring 2011, with an Honours thesis in Poetry and a Minor in Computer Sciece. She was a 2011-12 Rhodes Scholar Finalist. A writer and artist, she published her first book, Songs of Gypsies with Names of Light in 2011. Her most recent poetry collection, Romantic Criminals, and her first children's book, Gladyus & the Voodoo Priestess were published in 2012. She has worked for Raindance Film Festival in London, where she edited and contributed to their weekly filmmakers' newsletter. Currently she dances for and leads the Yale Ballet Company, Yaledancers and Yale Dance Theater. A native of Tallahassee, Florida, she was a principal dancer for the Pas de Vie Ballet and has led an honours service project teaching dance to local schoolchildren. She volunteers as a DJ at the WYBCX Yale Radio Station. Passionate about the arts and the environment, in 2011 she founded the nonprofit Dancearth, an arts for social change initiative celebrating movement and the earth in which we move.
