Karla MortonKarla K. Morton, the 2010 Texas Poet Laureate and a member of the Texas Institute of Letters, is a celebrated poet, author, and storyteller. Her poetry collections include REDEFINING BEAUTY (Dos Gatos Press, 2009), Stirring Goldfish (Finishig Line Press, 2010), Names We've Never Known (Texas Review Press, 2010), and Karla K. Morton: New and Selected Poems (Texas Christian University Press, 2010). Described as one of the more adventurous voices in American poetry, Morton has poems in descant, Concho River Review, Southwestern American Literature, Borderlands, Texas Poetry Calendar, Illya's Honey, REAL, and numerous other publications. A founding member of the Greater Denton Arts Council and the Denton Poets' Assembly, she is a member of the Western Writers of America, the Writer's League of Texas, and the Academy of American Poets.
