Karin LinnanderAbout the Author Karin Linnander, MA, was born in Stuttgart, Germany, and today lives with her husband in Frankfurt am Main. She studied German language and literature (MA University of Tübingen) and Psychology and Counseling (MA Prescott College, Arzona), specializing in youth sexuality. Her MA thesis was entitled The First Time and deals with the scientific foundations and design of a holistic workshop intended to help girls make their first sexual experiences self-determined and joyful events. After concluding her studies, Karin first worked with adolescent sexual offenders in the United States. Having returned to Germany in 2002, she facilitated courses and seminars for young girls entitled Butterfly Clan (in preparation for menarche) and Rose Clan (in preparation for the first time). She later continued her work in schools and public institutions. A Girls' Day, which she offered over the course of several years at a Catholic school for girls, reached more than 800 students. Karin has a psychological practice of her own in Frankfurt where she supports people in need of counseling in shaping their lives, mainly using systemic constellations and the development of personal rituals. In addition, 25 years of shamanic-spiritual studies have given her a deep understanding of individual processes of transformation. She incorporates the insights she has gained designing rituals and rites of passage into her work. She also has several years of experience in the theory and use of Council (a group-oriented discussion and moderation technique) and in facilitating vision quests for youth and adults. In the book The First Time - Paula's Story, a fictionalized story, Karin shares the essence of many years of work with girls. She is currently working on another publication on the topic of menarche and rites of passage. Read More Read Less
