Fluent in Mandarin, he has studied China for more than 30 years, including extensive stints in Xi'an and Taipei. He isnow a member of the advisory board at the Mercator Institute for China Studies in Berlin. Kai lives in Copenhagen where he works as a correspondent for the Scandinavian countries.
