She is an archaeologist and ceramologist, with a specialized research interest in the late antique and Early Islamic material culture of Egypt. Dr. Marchand currently works for the Histoire t Sources des Mondes Antiques research unit of the Centre national de la recherche scientifique in the Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée (Lyon, France).
