Judy DrechslerJudy Drechsler teacher, writer, and poet spent most of her teaching career in Anchorage, Alaska where she taught graduate and undergraduate literacy courses for the University of Alaska Anchorage and worked as a full time primary teacher in the Anchoage School District. She has traveled throughout Alaska as a Reading/Writing Work-shop consultant for many school districts and served as President of the Alaska State Literacy Association and as a member of the Alaska Department of Education Curriculum Cabinet. Since retiring in 2000 and moving to Port Townsend, WA she has taught part time for Seattle City University. Poetry became a passion after online classes with Sheila Bender (Writing It Real founder) and for the past several years she has gravitated to writing about her life, those she loves, and the grief she experienced when her son Jo died at forty-three.
