Joyce Jacobson

Joyce JacobsonJoyce Jacobson grew up in Brooklyn, where she loved writing poetry, mostly by night, at her bedroom window. Her writing helped release tension and ease anxiety. Jacobson hid her poems in a brown leather folder, a gift given to her when she was seven ears old by a young schoolboy who said he wanted to marry her. She still has the brown leather folder. She turned down his proposal. Ms. Jacobson has an M.F.A from the New School for Social Research. She has lived most of her adult life in Manhattan. Her writing group of six women, formed from her membership in the International Women's Writing Guild, has been inspirational to her for many years. She now writes at a brightly lit desk or on a bench near the Hudson River. Read More Read Less
