Joyce Chiu BroadbentJoyce Chiu Broadbent MBACP (accred) psychotherapist and Mindfulness Teacher and Reiki Master Joyce had a successful career in market research before qualifying as a psychotherapist in 2001. In 2004, her husband Michael Broadbent was diagnosed with Pakinson's Disease. By 2015, things started to unravel. Joyce's mother passed away from a stroke and in December, Mike caught pneumonia. The doctor predicted that Mike would not see another Christmas. With the support of family, friends and the medical team, Mike's iron will fought back and he underwent Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery in November 2016. June 2018 saw the death of Joyce's close friend from cancer and Mike began to experience all the PD symptoms again. Writing poems allows Joyce's heart to articulate her pain. They are the clarification and cleansing of her inner world and a way to reach out to others in a similar position; that we are all in the same boat, rowing against life's currents.
