Joy DoolanJoy was born in Ipswich, Queensland in 1930 to a working class family. Growing up through the Second World War, Joy would eventually meet her lifelong partner Ray, marring him and moving to Melbourne where she worked as a clerk for the state bank. Unortunately Ray suffered from regular illness and died of cancer at the age of 43. Ray and Joy never had any children and Joy remained loyal to him until her death in 2007.Many who knew Joy would have believed her greatest passion was for cats, given the number of cats she kept. However her true love was for birds, and she worked tirelessly in her garden to create a place for them to come. Joy always had a passion for English literature, particularly Australian turn of the century poetry. Her favourite poet and greatest inspiration was Australian poet, C.J. Dennis. Read More Read Less
