Jorge E VidalDr. Vidal was recruited by Larry McDaniel to the UMMC Department of Microbiology and Immunology where he currently has his research laboratory. His research programs and academic activities have been generously funded through grants from the NIH, BMG, Pfizer, Cempra pharmaceuticals, Melinta Pharmaceuticals, Nabriva Pharmaceuticals, NIH-sponsored ACTSI, and others. Dr. Vidal has published more than 80 research papers in top journals of microbiology with 3018 citation and 33 h-index and 64 i10-index.

Dr Vidal is a member of?the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), 2001-present. Witihn the ASM, Dr. Vidal is a member of the sub-Committee on Microbiological Issues Impacting Minorities (CMIIM) 2017-Present and member of the sub-Committee on Minority Education (CME), 2018-Present.
