Jonathan LandeJonathan Lande is an assistant professor history at Purdue University. He earned his Ph.D. at Brown University in 2018 and won the Allan Nevins Dissertation Prize from the Society of American Historians and the Cromwell Dissertation Prize fromthe American Society for Legal History. He is currently completing a book exploring the desertions and mutinies of formerly enslaved men in the Union army and their trials in the military justice system during the Civil War, which is under contract with Oxford University Press. Lande has published articles in the Journal of American History, Journal of Social History, Journal of African American History, Journal of American Ethnic History, Civil War History, and the Washington Post.
