He served as president of the national association for theology and religious Studies in the UK fro 2012 to 2018, and is currently director of the Centre for Theology and Public Issues at the University of Edinburgh. He is author of a wide range of books, chapters, and articles, including Promoting Peace and Inciting Violence: The Role of Religion and Media, Martyrdom: A Very Short Introduction, and Media Violence and Christian Ethics.
