John W GemmerAbout the Author: John W. Gemmer is a native Hoosier originally from Goshen, Indiana. Following his retirement in 1999, Gemmer lived in Naples and Orlando, Florida for nine years. He has since moved back to Indiana and resides in Elkhart. He is a grauate of Indiana University in South Bend, Indiana, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business. Gemmer majored in accounting. He served during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. Gemmer was stationed on a destroyer, also affectionately known as a tin can, the USS Harold J. Ellison DD-864 for a little over two years. The Ellison patrolled the north Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea (including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba), and the Mediterranean Sea during Gemmer's service aboard the ship. His last duty station was at the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic Fleet (SACLANT) headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia. SACLANT is a high-level NATO Command base. When John isn't writing, he enjoys target shooting, automotive restoration, reading, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
