John McLucasJohn C. McLucas, A Baltimorean by adoption, grew up in Pennsylvania, Washington, and Paris. He was educated in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rome, and New York. Trained as an opera singer, he is also a long-time AIDS and LGBTQ activist, an elderin a progressive Presbyterian church, and a committed Italophile. He has close ties of friendship in Rome, Florence, Siena, Campania, and the Veneto. He is a professor emeritus of Italian and Latin (and in a pinch, French) at Towson University, where he taught for 36 years. For 20 years, he also taught Italian diction and repertoire to voice students at Peabody Conservatory.
