He was also the author of the Buck Rogers novel Mordred as well as several short stories. He is erhaps best known for having written the popular 1977 Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set (also known among D&D players as the Holmes Basic Set), which introduced an entire generation to the world of fantasy tabletop roleplaying games.
