John C MilesJohn C. Miles taught for over four decades at Huxley College of the Environment (now titled The College of the Environment at Western Washington University), for over four decades. He has worked on conservation issues, mostly in the Pacific Northwest since the late 1960s, especially park and wilderness issues in the North Cascades. Author and/or editor of seven books, he has served on the boards of many environmental education and conservation organizations, the NPCA, The Rewilding Institute, and North Cascades Institute among them, and for a decade he was the General Public Member of the Washington Forest Practices Board which is charged with regulating the private timber industry in that state.
