John BousmanJohn Bousman was born in 1938, near the end of the Great Depression. This arrival certainly colored his views on money-if you have any, you hang on to it. When he arrived at military age, since our country still had a conscription army, he became a leutenant and served in the U.S. Army Alaska. He survived this alien experience thanks to the efforts of his sergeants and troopers who took careful care of him. They also survived, so the benefit was mutual. In his spare time, he rapidly learned about climbing in the great snow peaks of Alaska and later applied this education to the mountains in the rest of North America, Europe, and Africa. He also found time to work as a civil engineer to pay for all of this climbing and his extensive library of books on Alaska, Africa, animal behavior, Pleistocene art, climbing in general, and the terrors of deep sea travel.
