John BareJohn Bare is a writer and photographer. He is the author of the 2021 mystery, Fair-Skinned Brunette with the Porcelain Shine, which introduced Lassie James. With Don Dixon, John co-wrote songs for the 2019 album Lassie James Songbook Vol. I, a collecion of twelve original songs supporting the Lassie James mystery series, and the 2023 album Snow Camp 1982: The Long Springfest Tapes, a companion to My Biscuit Baby. John was born in Winston-Salem and attended public schools in Garner, NC, where his parents were educators. He majored in radio, television and motion pictures at the University of North Carolina and later received a PhD in mass communication research from UNC. In Chapel Hill, he developed an appreciation for biscuits, whiskey, and live music. John shares his North Carolina house with rescue dogs Winston and Isadora.
