Joanna PatersonAfter an academic career, creative fiction began late in Joanna Paterson's life, but reflects her urge to lift knowledge gained about past events and people to imaginative heights. Themes are elaborated, given crucial extensions, even humorous episods, while still retaining real landscapes and places. In 2012 Joanna suffered a debilitating stroke but has nonetheless continued writing and painting, teaching herself to do so with her left hand. Fully bilingual in German and English, completing a distinguished academic career as Professor Emerita of European Natural History and the History of Medicine, in latter years she has concentrated on fiction and art. Joanna Paterson (her academic writings are published under the name Joanna Geyer-Kordesch) was born in Vienna and now lives in Scotland's region of East Lothian. Joanna Paterson is the author of the Inspector Queberon Mysteries, a cosy crime series set in some of Europe's finest landscape gardens. The Smile of the Sibyl is set in Germany's beautifully preserved Dessau-Woerlitz landscape gardens, with In Virgil's Footsteps taking place in England's equally beautiful Stourhead landscape gardens.
