Jo ClarkThe initial production of Robert Lee Snow 38th Virginia Infantry: Finding the Men in the 1860 Census, was followed by a book on a sister regiment: 57th Virginia Infantry: Finding the Men in the 1860 Census. The goal has been to give the story of eachregiment through the Civil War, and to find genealogical data on the men who served. The 38th Virginia was also known as the Pittsylvania Regiment, as 7 of 10 companies were recruited in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. The 57th Virginia, somewhat similar, had 4 of 10 companies recruited in Pittsylvania, Virginia. Upon completion of those books, the author produced booklets strictly on Pittsylvania County men, and covered the 18th and 21st Virginia Infantry. Other books include Pittsylvania Artilleries: Finding the Men in the 1860 Census (which covers four Pittsylvania artilleries and two closely related regiments), and Henry County Virginia Civil War Soldiers: Finding the Men in the 1860 Census.
