Jiri GalloHe obtained his PhD in Surgery at Palacký University Olomouc in 2003 and was appointed Professor of Orthopaedics at Charles University in 2013. He has wide experience in clinical research in the field of orthopaedics. His main research focus is on falure of total hip/knee replacements, especially aseptic loosening, periprosthetic osteolysis, and septic failure, all from the perspective of prevention, diagnosis and treatment; he collaborates with immunogeneticists, microbiologists, pathologists, biomechanicists, tribologists, statisticians, and other specialists on these complex research tasks. He has recently centered on multidisciplinary research projects employing advanced technologies from other scientific fields (nanotechnologies, machine learning, biostatistics) in order to enhance the diagnostic/therapeutic processes in orthopaedics. His research projects on Gene expression profiling of the periprosthetic tissues was awarded with the Certificate of Merit of the Minister of Health of the Czech Republic in 2015. Dr. Gallo actively participates in the work of several Czech and international professional associations and journal editorial boards. He held the position of the chairperson of the Czech Society for Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 2017-2018.
