Jim Hoey
Jim Hoey was born and raised in Taconite, Minnesota, and graduated from Greenway High School in Coleraine and from Saint Mary's University in Winona. He spent thirty-four years as a secondary-school social studies teacher in Shakopee and Farmingto, mainly as an instructor in American history, political science, and geography. He also served as head boys' hockey coach at both high schools. The Minnesota Iron Range native was also a sportswriter for the Rosemount Town Pages and the Farmington Independent.
Hoey published his first book, Minnesota Twins Trivia, in 2010. Subsequent books published include Puck Heaven (2011), about the Minnesota State Boys Hockey Tournament; Minnesota Vikings Trivia (2013); Ike: Minnesota Hockey Icon (2015), with former Edina coach Willard Ikola; and Honoring Those Who Honor (2017), about the Memorial Rifle Squad at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Each of those books was published by Nodin Press.
Hoey lives in Eagan with his wife, Ann.
