Jian DengDr. Deng is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Lakehead University, Canada, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He is also aninvited researcher at the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Mining and Exploration of Canada. Dr. Deng is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario and has over 20 years of research, education, and industry experience. Dr. Deng's research group is developing theories and techniques to better understand dynamic instability, geohazards, and reliability of structures in civil and mining engineering, especially in geotechnical engineering. Most of his research work has resulted in well-recognized publications.
