Jerry SiniseA Texan by adoption, author Jerry Sinise was reared in Blue Island, Illinois. He was in the Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. In 1950, he graduated from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma with a degree in journalism and psychology nd served as the University's press relations director. For a year he was associate editor of teenage religious publications for Standard Publishing Co. in Cincinnati and for six years, feature writer and farm editor for the Amarillo Globe-News.
