Beyond directing theatre and teaching history, he advises the student group apush4peace that raises thousands of dollars for Peace Corps projets worldwide. When not enjoying the forests of Massachusetts, he wanders among the Joshua trees of California's Mojave Desert. He studied in the liberal arts tradition with the Benedictine monks and faculty of Saint Anselm College, where he graduated magna cum laude, and later earned a master's degree from the creative writing faculty at Harvard University.
