Jeff MenziseDr. Menzise is a graduate of both Fisk and Howard Universities. He currently serves as an Associate Professor with the Morgan State University Institute for Urban Research. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Fisk University in Nashvlle, TN in Psychology and Clinical Psychology respectively. He finished up his clinical training at Howard University where he majored in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Developmental Psychology. Along with his Ph.D., Dr. Menzise also received a graduate certificate in International Studies with a concentration in Political Science and Information & Culture. Dr. Menzise has put his education to work on both a local and global level. Internationally, he has worked with ministries of education in both the Caribbean and West Africa, conducting professional development workshops for teachers, administrators, families, students, and mental health staff. Locally, Dr. Menzise has taught thousands in the methods, philosophy and science of psychology, as well as various techniques and philosophies of Indigenous, non-Western populations. He is an ordained multi-faith minister, and has been initiated into several ancient and traditional African spiritual sciences, all of which he incorporates in his daily life and healing craft. Additionally, Dr. Menzise is a member of St. John's Lodge, #3, Prince White Chapter, #1, Holy Royal Arch Masons, and King Solomon's Consistory, #20 all Prince Hall Affiliated, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was voted an "Actual Fellow" of the Phylaxis Society, one of the research and scholarly organizations of Prince Hall Freemasonry. He contributes regularly to their quarterly magazine and serves as Assistant Editor and cover designer to the same. Menzise has also recently been invited to serve on the publication committee for the Black Child Journal. As a scholar, Dr. Menzise has presented a multitude of papers and workshops around the world. He is currently working on research designed to improve the cognitive performance of school-aged children using meditation and "brain-training" tools. He teaches high-school, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as community-based courses. Dr. Menzise has published six (6) books and two (2) decks of customized African playing cards. He has been featured on nationally syndicated television and radio shows, including NewsOneNow with Roland Martin and The Carl Nelson Show. He has also been featured in national newspapers and magazines, and is the hosts of hit radio show "Mind on the Matter."
